Book Review: One Last Rainy Day by Kate Stewart

For the first time, Dominic’s story comes to life from his perspective right up until the devastating events of Exodus. Check out my full review of One Last Rainy Day by Kate Stewart below!

Book Information

One Last Rainy Day tells the events of Flock and Exodus from Dominic’s point of view. Fueled with emotion, drama, and a deeper look into the workings of the brotherhood and the dark findings that Dominic comes across. With small revelations and tender scenes from their childhood, Dominic’s perspective offers a glimpse at the same beloved story from an adored character’s point of view.

This won’t be a super long review since most people reading this will have already read FlockExodus, and The Finish Line by Kate Stewart. One Last Rainy Day follows our same beloved characters just from a different POV. And, if you know me, you know I’m not a huge fan of retellings. If you check out my review for Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover, you can tell just how much I dislike them 😂. With One Last Rainy Day, though, it wasn’t horrible at all.

So, my main thing with retellings is you get the exact same scenes and you know exactly what will happen. It drives me insane. I already got the story. I already saw the anguish of the characters. I really don’t need it from another POV. But, honestly, seeing Dom’s POV wasn’t that bad because you got a lot of new scenes including ones from his childhood, a dangerous discovery that led him to be more volatile before the events of Exodus, and his real love for Cecelia.

Is it worth it, then, you ask? Well, it depends a lot on you as a reader. Personally, I knew I’d be reviewing One Last Rainy Day before it even came out just because when I start a series, I’m determined to finish it (except Haunting Adeline….). I also knew not to get my hopes up. While it wasn’t bad, I was still pretty bored. Butttttt Tobias King is my number one, so if you loved Dom, you rooted for Dom through it all, you will ADORE this novel. Also, it will probably break you even more. You have been warned.

Overall, I did enjoy the additions to the story we all know and love, but I was bored for most of the book since I’m not a big fan of the same story from a different POV. But, if you’re a huge fan of the brotherhood and all of its characters, you’ll adore this addition to the world of the Ravenhood.
