Book Review: The Mistake by Elle Kennedy
After finishing The Deal, and the Off Campus show, I got to read John Logan’s story in The Mistake (even though it’s not the next story for season two). Check out my full review of The Mistake below!
Book Information
John Logan has a huge crush on his best friend’s girl. That’s obviously a big no-no, so any girl he meets now, he sleeps with to try and get Hannah out of his system. When he meets Grace, a shy freshman, everything starts turning around. What started out as a hookup has taken a complete hold over John Logan. The only problem, though, is that he’s pretty sure he’s already messed everything up. Can he make it up to Grace? Or has he lost her forever?
Review | Heidi Dischler
I really and truly don’t know what to say about this book. The first book started out SO strong for the series. This one? Ugh. John Logan’s story was SO BORING. I had to force myself to keep going and finish it because it was that slow.
First off, I will say that I did like Grace as a main character. I didn’t particularly like Logan, but whatever. Their characters had a good bit of chemistry, but nothing like Garrett and Hannah’s. Their romance was basically hookup, this was a mistake, wait this wasn’t a mistake, and then ending. It felt draining. That was also the whole entire plot besides John Logan having a side plot going on with his alcoholic father. Needless to say, this review is going to be short because I just didn’t like this book (pacing, romance, and lack of plot to sum up my reasons for hating it).
Spoilers ahead.
Basically John Logan realizes that the only reason he was obsessed with Hannah was because he wanted what she and Garrett had. Like, excuse me? I know the author needed to get rid of the crush fast, but that just felt like a cop out. That’s all I’m going to say on the matter (besides the fact that it’s another reason why I don’t like this book).
Overall, maybe the TV show will spruce up John Logan’s season a little bit. If it’s anything like the book, though, I’m super freaking thankful his season isn’t next.
